The Park again

It was a beautiful day today so I opted to take the boys to the park.  This time I chose to go to the Whitnall Park as it has grass and the dogs LOVE grass.  The catch is there are always about 239847 dogs there, and some people’s concept of small or timid dogs seems puzzling.  Either way, as I was leaving I mentioned that I might just take Patrick (Jack doesn’t like lots of dogs or people…) to which Jared responded that I was being “uncool”.  I took them both.

Patrick LOVED it.  He ran, he played with all the dogs.  There was a giant dog that looked Lassie, a black lab, a whole group of tiny chihuahuas and Patrick enjoyed them all.  He fetched, he rolled, he smiled and he wagged his tail. He even played fetch with some kid that wanted to play with him.

Jackson hated it.  He was actualy better than I had imagined – but I kept him on leash.  I know that is technical bad dog park etiquette, but I think letting him have bad experience is worse.  Jack didn’t bark at any people or small dogs.  He only got upset at the lassie dog and the giant black dog (this one was neither small OR timid, but I don’t know his whole story).  After about 15 minutes Jack was trying to drag me to the exit.

So what is more “uncool”?  Denying Patrick going to the park he loves or dragging Jack to a place he hates?  I think next time I choose to go to that park it will be Patrick only.  Jack can go on a private walk with me… but its not fair to take them both or to leave them both at home.
