How cold?
Hey folks – how is everyone?! It has been super low key here. The best news in the people below us moved out! So now it doesn’t matter how much the boys run and jump and wrestle, as we aren’t disturbing the folks downstairs! Yay!
Since I’ve been walking the boys more I’ve been wondering; how cold is too cold? When I can see my breath and my hands are cold, surely they are cold? I know the complain when its too hot for their feet. Do they do the same when it is too cold? Should I bundle them in sweaters and such even if they look a tad ridiculous?
What do you all do?
I know it’s warm in the blankets at least….

They look so warm and comfy. Our kids, all 8 love to crawl under a blanket and snuggle up to stay warm. On cold days, anything under about 35 degrees, we put sweaters or shirts on the one who will wear them. Not all will.
Hi We had the same questions about Teka. (JRT) She is about three (four) times the size of your boys, but she is COLD here in Mayemphis.
I got her a hoodie, and she loves it. When she is cold, she finds it and we put it on. I try not to leave it on her in the house, but she has gotten wise to me, and runs off immediately after her leash is released, and burrows under the blankets.
Gus is another case. He has great outdoor fur, but he got a coat like Teka’s for Christmas, and he seems to love it. He is not “asking” for it yet.

Stella lets us know she is cold by shivering and looking pathetic. She is such a drama queen! My rule of thumb, though is that if it is cold enough to wear gloves, she needs a sweater. If it is colder than that, she needs a coat.
My wife just ordered a new coat for Dennis to wear during agility, it’s been so chilly. Brrrr!
You look nice and warm and cosy.

My Mommy puts a sweater on me if I go outside & then run back in! Mommy agrees with Nanette!

J & P,
When we go outside, we put on a sweater or a jacket. My little feetsies get cold, but they warm up real fast when we get back! We don’t have boots or gloves, but I guess we would if we had to walk in the snow.

Sometimes my mom put me on a t-shirt, a sweater and a winter coat to go out for walkies! She is insane!

Hi there!
When it is cold here, and I have to go out for a walk or into the cold car for a ride, my parents put a jacket on me. But it is REALLY cold here…

Well let me tell you I does not go fer walks at all cause I does not like them. Mummy does not take Star fer a walk if the temprature is under 50 degrees cause Mummy is a wimp! When it is too cold she gives us exercise by making us run up and down the stairs. But I does not think this will work fer you guys. :-/

Well, I don’t know about this question. I HATE coats and sweaters and hoodies and all those things. But when it’s cold here (less than 10 degrees Celsius), I have to wear it if I go for a walk or a car ride.
BUT, the Min Pins I live with are different. Sometimes in the winter, Lexi even wears a sweater in the house because she’s shivering. I think that Chis would be more like Min Pins (only in the sense of being cold – not anything else!) than like me. I think the advice about gloves/sweater is probably a good one.
The Girl wants to add that sometimes when dogs wear clothing, it can hide some of their body language, so to be watchful when other dogs are around!

You are looking comfy there!

My mom tries to put jackets and sweaters on me but I just freeze and won’t move when she does it. I don’t really like the cold but I go out and do my business and a little territory investigating and I’m ok. When it’s really cold I go quickly. Sometimes my mom notices that when it’s that cold I start moving really slowly. She said she hear it’s hard on our feet but mine seem be be ok so far. Keep warm dawgs!

Dobby has a whole wardrobe of warm things- fleece, sweatshirts, sweaters… I even just ordered him three more jackets
The boys might not like it at first, but when you get outside they will understand and appreciate the warmth.

I have two Sharpei and we live in Michigan where it’s coooooollllld. The pups have parkas! I think with Chi’s a sweater or coat would be wise.
